This text is a supplement to a video lesson intended to prime the reader for a xenoglossic encounter with Bliss, a language made entirely of small pictures. This first part of the text is a partial, loving retelling of the troubled history of the Bliss language and its creator. The second part is more incantatory. It acts as an invitation into a certain way of thinking about how language is used and how it can change.
